Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) is a national research institute within Hamad bin Khalifa University. As a national research institute, QBRI aims to improve and transform healthcare through innovation in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the Qatari population and the region. As a disease-focused institute, QBRI concentrates on applying integrative and multidisciplinary approaches to provide novel insights into the molecular basis of breast cancer, type-2 diabetes and neurological disorders, and the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to facilitate early diagnosis, treatment and management of these devastating diseases towards improving personalized medicine and healthcare.

Building on existing strengths, QBRI is committed to developing a center of excellence in neurological disorders with emphasis on studying neurogenetics, genetic etiology of neurodevelopmental disorders and childhood neurologic diseases, as well as neurodegenerative diseases.

Full-time Investigator Positions

To fulfill its mission, QBRI is recruiting independent, full-time Scientists (equivalent to Assistant Professor), Senior Scientists (equivalent to Associate Professor) and Principal Investigators (equivalent to Full Professor) to lead and support basic, clinical and translational research in neurogenetic/neurodevelopmental disorders (such as autism and epilepsy) and neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s). Individuals with expertise in drug/biomarkers discovery; functional genomics; computational and systems biology; development of cellular and animal disease models; and neurodevelopment phenotyping are encouraged to apply.

These positions offer outstanding scientific resources and generous funding opportunities amidst existing expertise in genomics and classical genetics; access to state-of-the-art core laboratories and access to a homogeneous and genetically unique population. The positions offer ample opportunities for interaction and collaboration with national, regional and international universities, research institutes, clinical entities and organizations.

The ideal candidate must hold an MD and/or PhD degree and demonstrate considerable research experience plus thorough knowledge of the field. The candidate must demonstrate a solid record of productive scholarship, mentoring students, post-doctoral fellows and junior researchers. As such, candidates should exhibit excellent and effective communication and organizational skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work in a team/ matrix environment.
